Description
Before I start my description of this rare three sided issue of this famous soundtrack I wish to state that the records and sleeve are only in FAIR CONDITION.Please,please,please note that statement,as I dont want any misunderstandings or problems with the sale if someone buys the records.I dont normally list anything in this condition.The only reason I am is because there are literally only 80 copies of this item in the world,and one of my friends,who has been a member of the Cliff and the Shads fan club for more than thirty years says that even in this condition,fans will be interested in owning one of these record sets.This is a special three sided record set,of which there were only 80 copies ever issued on the Elstree Extra range label,and each one was given to a member of the cast and crew of the film.The records were pressed in such away as to be able to play them in sequence on a multistack record player which most people had in the sixties.Therefore,disc one has sides one and three,and disc two has side two and a blank side.The records include dialogue from the film as well as the songs,and some of the songs are slightly different versions to the ones on the normal soundtrack.The machine stamped matrix numbers are UPC 3410 A 1U,UPC 3410 B 1U,UPC 3410 C 1U.The laminated front cover is in fair to good condition,with some slight discolouration and storage wear around the edges.The back cover is which is not laminated is quite discoloured (see my photo.The records themselves have a lot of surface marks consistent with playing on an old fashioned multichange record player,and also unfortunately not good handling.I showed the records to my friend who is the Cliff expert,and he says that my description of Fair as the condition would be about right.The Record Collector Guide description of fair is "The record is just about playable,but has not been cared for properly,and displays considerable surface noise:it may even jump.The cover and contents will be torn,stained and or defaced.This record is slightly better that that description in that it does not jump when playing on any side,and the surface noise actually decreases as you get futher into the sides of the discs,and is mainly noticeable on the speaking parts of the records.Also,the cover is not torn.Finally,I know this is along and detailed description,but because of the rarity of this item and its condition I wanted interested parties to know exactly what they will be purchasing.My friend suggested putting a reserve on the records despite the condition because of its rarity,so I have but its not a high one.The latest Record Collector lists this record at £700+ in mint condition.If you have any questions dont hesitate to email me and I will do my best to answer them.
