CLIFFORD BROWN – A STUDY IN BROWN – EMARCY MG 36037 – EX to VG+/VG+ - DG – BLUE LINER NOTES – MONO

Recorded on February 23, 1955, this Emarcy recording session features Clifford Brown on trumpet, Harold Land on tenor, Richie Powell on piano, George Morrow on bass and Max Roach on drums. SIDE A: CHEROKEE; JACQUI; SWINGIN’ and LANDS END: SIDE B: GEORGE’S DILEMMA; SANDU; GERKIN FOR A PERKIN; IF I EVER LOVE AGAIN and TAKE THE A TRAIN. This is a MONO recording and the liner notes are printed in blue, as is the first pressing. This is a deep groove LP. It comes in its original sleeve.

I have graded the vinyl as EX to VG+ and the record jacket as VG+ for the following reasons. Sometimes you get an LP that doesn’t quite fit into one of these categories. This LP is in between. The vinyl is too good to be rated VG+ and not quite god enough for an EX grading. Please take note of this. The vinyl is relatively clean on both sides. There are a few surface marks, which do not interfere with play. There are some marks in and around the spindle hole. The record jacket gets a VG+ grading, primarily for the wear and deterioration on the blue liner notes. It has taped seams on the top and bottom of the record jacket and wear on the spine.
