CLIFFORD BROWN "Memorial Album" Deep Groove, RVG, Flat Rim Vinyl Blue Note BLP 1526.
This the 1956 RVG-etched, Flat Rim, Deep Groove, Frame Cover Mono Vinyl of CLIFFORD BROWN's "Memorial Album" on the Blue Note Records 767 Lexington Ave NYC labels of Blue Note BLP 1526. "Ear" or "P" in deadwax. Musicians include Brown, Gigi Gryce, Charlie Rouse, John Lewis, Percy Heath, Elmo Hope, Lou Donaldson, "Philly" Joe Jones and Art Blakey.
Disc features intermittent light surface noise throughout both sides. Fewer pops and ticks than consistent low level surface noise. But as with all Lexington to New York USA Blue Note pressings, the imperfections do not detract from this powerfully performed, engineered and pressed music. Instruments clean and full of tone, no distortion. Incredibly Dynamic!
No Skips!
Numerous hairline non-feelable marks on both sides. Four 1" feelable scratches on Side 1. Labels in reasonably good shape, see photos. "WO Libary" stamped in red on both labels. Labels in good shape. Laminated ORIGINAL Frame Cover in good but worn condition. (Second cover replaced blue lower banner with white.) Spines and seams worn but no splits. Corners worn. Back cover "767 Lexington Ave., New York 21" faded tape on upper left, various writing in pen ("No one borrow this record"). Back jacket opening cracking. but otherwise clean.
This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, Heed Quasar Phono stage and Quad S2 speakers (with very revealing ribbon tweeters). Record cleaned on VPI 16.5.
