Description
Rare privately-pressed long-playing record made in the mid 1960s featuring recordings of public school life, with excerpts of speech from sixth form pupils, their 'fags' (servants to older boys) and the headmaster and staff, plus sounds of a typical school day at the well-known Bristol-based Public School Clifton College (well known ex-pupils include John Cleese, Field Marshal Douglas Haig, Sir Michael Redgrave and Trevor Howard). 7
The recording seems to have been made by the Sixth form pupils as a school sound project, and the record was presumably made for use as a souvenir for pupils and their families, and so not many were made. Side one covers 'A glimse of life at present-day Clifton seen through the eyes of a fag and a house sixth', Side two covers 'Opinions and attitudes of several masters on current educational topics' as well as excerpts of sounds at the school include singing and the cast of a school drama. Production by John Madden, Andrew Samuels and Anthony Sykes, under supervision of D Tomes, sound recording by Nicholas Kingsbury, Richard Rowe and David Widdup, Commentries by David Revell and Richard Footman, Peter Sadil and Jeremy Tridgell, Sleeve by Sean Cavanagh. The record and sleeve are in better than very good condition.
