Description
Here is an extremely rare UK vinyl copy of The Climax Blues Band Plays On by The Climax Chicago Blues Band on original first pressing yellow and black Parlophone (PCS. 7084) from 1969.
'Plays On' is the band's second album and this is their rarest first pressing - and probably the rarest Parlophone black and yellow, even harder to locate than the band's elusive debut. As you know immediately after Plays On was released Parlophone switched to a black and silver label, which is how most copies are found.
Both sides of the disc look lovely in natural light and when closely examined under harsh halogen light show up just a few of the usual little light surface marks, none of which are 'feelable' in any way. The disc lies flat on the turntable and both labels also look great (see photos). This carefully played fine disc easily grades VG.
The original first pressing unlaminated cover is very presentable, with just a small round sticker removal mark on the rear, top left, and a little ringwear top rear, on account of which this sleeve grades VG-.
If you are unfamiliar with this album, it is a highly imaginative collection generally regarded as the band's best.
