Description
THE UTTERBACH CONCERT ENSEMBLE -- It's Music To Me -- hard to find, original early-to-mid 1960's U.S. album. This is one in a series of ex. rare, private press LP's on the Simpson label put out by much-loved group leader Clinton Utterbach, who helped establish the modern Gospel-Soul sound in the 1960's w/ his groundbreaking ensembles. Highpoint is killer Gospel-Northern Soul-R&B stomper "Everything Moves" w/ incredible lead vocals by Marie Walker and driving Hammond organ sound -- she would've put a lot of contemporary 1960's Motown artists to shame, really amazing stuff. The whole LP is consistently good w/ lots of Hammond organ and a strong early Soul-R&B-Doo Wop vibe throughout, excellent male vocals in a soulful Sam Cooke vein etc. Utterbach's early 1960's LP's are very difficult to find -- does not come up for sale often. See photo for track listing. Cover: VG- to VG, ring wear, 1/4" split at lower right corner, wear at corners, name written at upper left front, vintage ink stamps on back cover, age stains on back cover upper left. Record: Fair to Good, moderate scuffs and surface marks, Simpson private label, U.S. pressing.
