Description
CLOCKWORK CRIMINALS Young and Bold / No Future UK / Stand Together / 3 Million and 1 – 7" vinyl EP release on Ace Records label from 1982 (ACE 38).
You are bidding for an original UK pressing of this seldom seen single by Hastings Punk five piece the Clockwork Criminals. The band, which started out as Charlie and the Criminals, recorded this 500 pressing EP in 1982 for the collectable Ace label.
A review from the time quotes ‘Fast quasi-experimental punk with incredible out of tune guitars which are bound to annoy the feeble minded. The Clockwork Criminals transcend all Brit Punk clichés to come up with a truly original sound.’
Visually there are a few light surface marks visible under a good light, but this copy is still very nice. Playing the vinyl confirms that it in great condition with just a little minor surface noise on the run in / out to the tracks and the occasional click or pop. There is also a very slight edge warp visible when it is on the turntable (only noticeable when playing the ‘A’ side), but this does not affect sound quality in any way.
The fold over picture sleeve shows some storage wear and the white background of the monochrome sleeve is a bit grubby and has a couple of small stains. There is also a 2cm tear along the seam from the top corner, but this isn’t evident unless the sleeve is opened out. These defects apart, the sleeve is still in reasonably good condition, so a grading of Vg is probably fair.
The Ace labels are nice and clean with no defects to mention.
Overall I would grade this obscure single as Ex/Vg (vinyl/sleeve).
