OK, Here's the deal with this waaaay out-of-print, limited edition, NUMBERED, double LP, COIL presents BLACK LIGHT DISTRICT, BLUE VINYL, 2LP SET (number # 1486): One of my best friends was in such need of fast money that he was about to sell his entire music collection for "pennies on the dollar" just because he needed a quick buck. As a friend, and a fellow music collector, I agreed to pay him at a higher rate for the items, and I would try to sell his things as I had time. We agreed: that he could designate the items to hold to sell for last (in case he decides he wants to get them back before they sell); and, that if the items sell for a higher value than he was paid, we'll split the difference. Well, my pal had to "go away" for a while, but I can still answer almost any question about his items, including quality, condition, content, and other details. My guarantees also apply to his items. The only difference is that I may not always know certain historical facts and details of the items that he might otherwise know (unless he has already told me or left me a note), but many of his things were acquired when we were together, anyway, and we do have many musical interests in common. There is some great stuff here! This is one of his items. Please note: This only applies to listed items for which I have provided this specific designation. I am also selling a good cross section of my own collection, which has nothing to do with the items I purchased from my friend's collection.

This DOUBLE LP represents COIL in their prime. 1995-96. Forget that it is called "Coil Presents Black Light District". It's COIL! That's right, PETER CHRISTOPHERSON from THROBBING GRISTLE, and the late JOHN JHONN BALANCE, from many associations, including NURSE WITH WOUND, CURRENT 93, PSYCHIC TV, THROBBING GRISTLE, HNAS, and many more.

This DOUBLE LP is the ultra rare release by Coil on WORLD SERPENT (ESKATON 009). This limited edition is numbered 1486. I bought this NEW for my friend bought and, as I recall, he played it only once to record it to cassette tape (remember those?). We listened to the cassette often. Like most of his albums, this one stayed preserved and unplayed until now; I have played it once again to try to provide an accurate aural description. My friend (who is "away") was actually turned on to COIL by me (yes, that's right, in the late 80s). This release was was limited to 2000 double LPs.

PHYSICAL APPEARANCE OF THE DOUBLE ALBUM: The playing surface of both LPs appear in the new-ish condition I would expect. They are BLUE VINYL, which means that the pressing process may reveal some unusual appearances (discoloration, uneven coloring, etc.). BOTH LPS PLAY THROUGH WITHOUT SKIPS OR MAJOR FLAWS, although I heard some occasional surface noise and periodic distortion, but these aspects of this LIMITED DOUBLE VINYL SET are typical for this type of ultra-rare release. I want to be as descriptive as possible because I want you to know exactly what you will be receiving, and for you to be VERY SATISFIED WITH YOUR PURCHASE. My goal is for your expectations to be exceeded with NO DISAPPOINTMENT WHATSOEVER.

PHYSICAL APPEARANCE OF THE ARTWORK: The artwork looks GREAT! There is NO WRITING ON THE ARTWORK, NO CUTS, NO TEARS, NO CUT-OUT MARKS, ETC.! There are several places on the FRONT COVER, which reveal several white "rub spots" (these should be visible in the photos of this item; NOTE: THERE IS A GLARE IN THE PHOTO OF THE FRONT COVER TO THE LEFT OF THE TITLE LETTERING: THIS IS NOT A "RUB SPOT"; the "rub spots" appear in the photograph of the front cover in the right, lower quadrant; there are 3 spots). I happen to know that they were there when this album was received NEW from Anomalous Records in the late 90s. Otherwise, there is no evidence of prior use to the cover. Overall I would rate the FRONT ALBUM COVER as VG+. The BACK COVER AND INNER GATEFOLD ARE NEAR MINT. The spine shows virtually no wear except the bend where the gatefold LP folds over.

SOUND OF BOTH LPS:  The sound quality of both LPs is EXCELLENT. YES, it's COLOURED VINYL, so the pressing process had defects and there are points where "noise" is heard, but it is not noise from overplay or misuse. There are 12 tracks on the four sides of this TWO LP SET and, overall, the sound is wonderful, in spite of the periodic surface sounds and colored vinyl noises. THIS 2 LP SET FEATURES some of Coil's musik ever.
