  Description: RARE ORIGINAL UK PRESSING OF THE SEMINAL COIL SECOND ALBUM - MATRIX A1/B1. THIS IS THE ORIGINAL FORCE & FORM RELEASE, NOT A REISSUE.


Coil were an English cross-genre, experimental music group formed in 1982 by John Balance and his partner Peter Christopherson, aka "Sleazy".

Christopherson was one of the original members of the Industrial Records band, Throbbing Gristle, and besides being a musician, was also a video director, designer, and former member of the influential British design agency Hipgnosis. After Throbbing Gristle he participated in the foundation of Psychic TV along with Geoffrey Rushton, aka John Balance, and later Coil, which lasted just under 23 years, until Balance died of a fall in their Weston-Super-Mare home. The duo worked together on a series of releases before Balance chose the name Coil, which he claimed to be inspired by the omnipresence of the coil's shape in nature. Coil were one of the most influential and best known industrial music groups.

The group's first official release as Coil was a 1984 12" titled How to Destroy Angels released on the Belgian Les Disque de Crepuscule's sublabel LAYLAH Antirecords. Following the 12"s success, Coil produced a series of three albums, Scatology, Horse Rotorvator and Love's Secret Domain, which met with little commercial success, but were praised as innovative due to their blend of industrial music and elecronica.

G --> It plays, no skipping, but with lots of surface noise.  It is being offered because it is rare.

COVER GRADING:
MINT --> Mint is Mint.  It looks like it has never been handled;
NEAR MINT --> Very sharp corners with no impacts or bends, like new;
EX --> Small writing and/or a small split seam and/or a small bent corner and/or light shelf wear and/or a small tear, and/or light ring wear;
VG --> Writing and/or split seams and/or corner wear and/or shelf wear and/or tears and/or ring wear;
G --> Cuts and/or holes and/or missing parts.
