COL JOYE OZ RARE CUSTOM RADIO ADVERTS BEE GEES/JUDY STONE/WARREN WILLIAMS/ DE KROOS ETC 1963
A rare (maybe unique) set of radio ads for a “Col Joye Spectacular” ie a touring show of Col’s that went around the country in 1963. The first band has an announcer spruiking the show, intercut with Col singing bits of some of his hits ie Yes Sir She’s My Baby, Oh Yeah Uh Huh, Bye Bye Baby, Sweet Dreams of You and his latest hit (the Barry Gibb written) Underneath the Starlight of Love. The announcer then lists the other performers that will be touring too. These are The Joyboys, Judy Stone, Warren Williams, The De Kroo Brothers and Jerry J Wilder. Finally a portion of Everybody C’Mon is played. In the next band just one track is played as an introduction- it’s Underneath the Starlight of Love (Incidentally this was Barry’s first composition to be taken up by another performer). The rest is the same as the first track.
I’ve given it a visual grading of VG There’s moderate surface noise throughout. Having said that- it doesn’t skip or click. The label’s a bit messy and the all the words have been underlined- I guess at the radio station (see scan) Maybe it’s EX-. Only a very few of these would have been circulated to radio stations around where the show would have been travelling and most would have been junked afterwards.
As I said a rare- maybe unique -item of Australian rock’n’roll history.
CONDITION WISE:
MINT: New condition, no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. Cover, label, extras in superb condition.
EXCELLENT: Slight signs of having been played, no lessening of sound quality. Cover, label, extras may show slight signs of usage.
VERY GOOD: Played quite a few times, no real deterioration in sound quality. Cover, label, extras may show some amount of wear and tear.
GOOD: Showing considerable wear and tear. Reasonable, playable sound. Cover, label, extras may also display considerable deterioration.
FAIR: Sound quality may have deteriorated. Cover, label, extras may also display significant wear and tear.
