In the late 80’s my friend Ronnie Smith (of Global Dog) showed me this single that Col had autographed for him personally. Col said that there were several differences between this which was for the American market and the version the one released in Oz. The (b) side was recorded at Decca using US session musos . Some of the differences include no spoken intro on the US version (‘Down amongst the whispering pines” etc), ie it goes straight into the song, a different lead guitarist who plays a much more hard rockin’ solo than the Joye Boys and a different vocal cut by Col (Before the guitar solo on the US version he says “Hang on now” whereas on the Aussie one he says “Let’s go”) The (a) side’s exactly the same as the Oz version. The vinyl’s almost M- but I’ve taken it down a notch because there’s a light thin red crayon line across part of the (b) side. (which would probably wash off if you wanted). I’ve always understood it was there, since this was a copy for dj’s, to indicate this is not the “plug” side. I’ve just left it because it doesn’t sound at all and seems to be fading away of it’s own accord anyway. The label has the remains of some sticky tape and an “x” on the (a) side. It’s EX.

GOOD: Showing considerable wear and tear. Reasonable, playable sound. Cover, label, extras may also display considerable deterioration.
FAIR: Sound quality may have deteriorated. Cover, label, extras may also display significant wear and tear.
