Description
This extremely rare 45 RPM single by "Colage" (also spelled "Collage") was recorded for the very early Partridge Family recording sessions. "Bye Bye Birdie" was originally used on the Partridge Family episode "Whatever Happened To The Old Songs." The episode featured Shirley's father Fred (played by Ray Bolger) singing along with the band. This 45 features the original arrangement without Granpa's voice - the pure Partridge mix of Bye Bye Birdie, which has never been released on a Partridge Family album or CD collection of any kind. On the other side is "My Kind Of Music," another song that was recorded for the Partridge Family sessions but never used on a Partridge Family episode or album. These are two of the handful of songs recorded by the Partridge Family before David Cassidy became the lead singer, featuring the choral sound of John and Tom Bahler, Jackie Ward and Ron Hicklin - the background singers of the Partridge Family. In the fall of 1970 Bell Records issued a very limited edition of the single under the name "Colage" (Collage) and never included them on any Partridge Family albums. Of all the "Lost Songs" known to Partridge collectors this is among the rarest of finds.
This is a 44 year old styrene pressing so there is some surface noise when playing. The Bell label has remnants of a price sticker and some minor peeling on one side. Please examine the pictures, and be sure to ask questions.
