Here's a great acid psych rarity; a Mint/Mint and unplayed copy of the 1991 Rockadelic first pressing of the album DARK SHADOWS by Cold Sun, with a lyric inscription and some original artwork. This highly sought after Texas psychedelic album was recorded in 1970 at Texas' legendary Sonobeat studios (where the Mariani and first Johnny Winter albums were recorded), but was never released. In 1991 Rockadelic licensed it from the band's leader, electric autoharpist and singer Bill Miller, and issued it in a limited edition of 300. Bill Miller of course went on to fame in the mid-70's as the electric autoharpist and band leader of Roky Erickson and the Aliens.

We are fortunate to have known Bill from his time in Roky's band, and we obtained this copy directly from him (it was one of his personal un-numbered copies; he's out of extras, unfortunately.) We had Bill sign the back cover and he inscribed it additionally with a lyric excerpt from the song "Twisted Flower" that reads "Ever Lasting." This copy has the rare insert with the story of the band and the records' release, written by Bill under the pen name "Arthur Bloch." Additionally, Bill has signed the insert. (There is a very very faint smell of smoke on the cover from being in Bill's home, but it's barely noticeable.)

Also included are two original pieces of photostat artwork, for the front cover, without type, as well as the back cover, which were sent to Bill Miller for approval prior to the album's release by Rockadelic. Each measure approximately 12" square, and each was folded in quarters either by Bill or before being sent to him. At our request, he signed each on the back and additionally signed the white one on the front.

This is absolutely the original Rockadelic first pressing, and is in beautiful mint condition, guaranteed authentic with no time limit. According to Patrick (The Lama) Lundborg from Lysergia.com: "Best Rockadelic LP ever, and in my opinion the best Texas LP of the era. In his book, "The Acid Archives" Mr. Lundborg wrote, "A wet dream for fans of American psychedelia, and imagine how close it came to remaining unreleased. A carefully crafted trip through sun-baked Texas desert peyote landscapes, so real that you can actually feel the blazing heat." Listed in the Top 10 in "Acid Archives" the "Dark Shadows" LP by Cold Sun also elicits this review : "The top tracks like "South Texas" and "Ra-Ma" reach into intense desert hallucinatory states that are almost too good to be true."
