COLEMAN HAWKINS "HAWK EYES" LP - On PRESTIGE Records #7156. Rare original 1959 pressing with the classic Yellow & Black labels and Bergenfield, NJ address on the labels. The label is DEEP GROOVE on both sides with RVG machine stamped in the trail-off on both sides. Interesting mispress with both jacket & labels indicating a high fidelity pressing; however, the matrix number in the trail-off is hand-etched 'PRST-7156' with STEREO machine stamp on both sides. Thick vinyl, thick laminated cardboard cover. The personnel: Coleman Hawkins/tenor sax; Charlie Shavers/trumpet; Tiny Grimes/guitar; Ray Bryant/piano; George Duvivier/bass; Osie Johnson/drums; Candido/conga. The vinyl is in EX+ condition (beautiful gloss)! The thick laminated cardboard cover is in superb shape - bright & clean, displays wonderfully! NO seam splits, NO writing, NO cut-out marks, and the front cover graphics are particularly striking.
