'Oh! What A Lovely War'

FROM LIVERPOOL, this four piece heavy psych rock band recorded their album in London but couldn't get a UK record deal, despite the fact that they scored a tour of Europe supporting Slade. Enterprising US label, Cadet Concept, a spin off of Chess records, took a punt and issued the album stateside. The music is primo early seventies hard rock with a nice fuzzed out psych feel. The songs form the basis of a concept and the track 'Six Day War' was co-opted by DJ Shadow and used in the soundtrack of the movie Phonebooth.
Guitarist Ken Parry went on to join popsters Liverpool Express whilst bassist David Dower ended up in Supercharge.
This auction is part of a fantastic collection of seventies rock which I was lucky enough to acquire. Most of these records were stored with the utmost care and sparsely played. Some were possibly never played or may have been for just a handful of times.
Pressing: Cadet Concept, USA, 1971
Vinyl: Superb clean condition. No spindle marks and very little sign of use. Numerous tiny scuffs only visiable under a bright light - primarilly due to sliding in and out of the inner sleeve. Grades as MINT-!
Cover: Again, no signs of use - Still in shrink wrap! Issued in a beautifully illustrated textured cover. Sharp corners (one microscopic cut corner), no dings, no bends, no ring wear, no split seams and no creases. Spine is perfect - straight and stiff. Beautiful and impossible to find like this 45 years after release. Grades as MINT-!
