Description

COLOURS - COLOURS LP

This is an original American issue of Colours' rare debut psych album released on DOT (DLP 25854) in 1968. From the spelling of their name it is obvious that they wished they were English and the album is certainly very Beatesque. It contains, in "BAD DAY AT BLACK ROCK, BABY", one of the very best ever orchestrated psych songs with its sense of drama, disturbing time-changes, superb instrumentation and menacing harmonies. Also of note are the sitar infused "RATHER BE ME", "BROTHER LOU'S LOVE COLONY" featuring bagpipes and the chilling "CATALEPTIC". The cover still has (much of !) its shrinkwrap and a small drill-hole top left. The vinyl has, I believe, only ever been PLAYED ONCE , to record and is virtually unmarked (apart from displaying a little of the "bloom" seen on many, especially American, albums and probably on all copies). This is a fabulous album of the period and genre and is still relatively underrated, although it is, rightly, now beginning to be re-evaluated.

-------------------------

SATISFACTION GUARANTEED – As a record collector for many years, I know only too well that, despite the various systems now used, grading remains largely subjective, everyone essentially having their own ideas as to what NM-, EX+, VG++ etc. should mean ! Instead, I try to describe each individual record (via a visual inspection) as honestly and accurately as I can – perhaps to the point of being overly critical, as even new records, let alone those of 30-40 year vintage, can have some marks ! However, if your standards are even higher and you are genuinely unhappy with my assessment, a refund of the purchase price will be given upon return of the record within 14 days, at buyer’s expense, in the same condition as sent,. Please bear in mind that many (if not most !) vinyl records usually have at least one or two light surface marks (lines/scuffs/grazing) mainly from their paper inner-sleeves. As these usually do not affect play at all, such slight imperfections may not necessarily be mentioned specifically in the item description. Should you require clarification/confirmation on any point which might be of importance to you, please ask before placing a bid. If you’re happy with your record(s) and the service please tell others by leaving good feedback – if you’re not, please tell me !

--------------------------

Whilst no extra charge is made for payments via PayPal, it would be very much appreciated if, wherever possible, payment could be made via other methods, especially by UK buyers, to help minimise costs. P&P rates quoted always include an additional element to reflect the extra expense of proper vinyl record packaging. All albums are sent in new custom mailers with additional stiffeners/padding as necessary for secure shipment. However, as no responsibility can be accepted for items lost or damaged in transit, postal insurance is strongly recommended. This is an extra 70p UK and £3.50 ROW (up to £30 value) and £3 UK and £4.50 ROW (over £30 value).

Double albums count as 2 LP’s for P&P. All overseas parcels are sent airmail - please do not request surface shipping as the small saving on postage is just not worth the extra risk. Thank you for your time and interest.
