Condition Key Definitions
- Near Mint [NM]: The record shows no obvious signs of wear, appearing to have been un-played, while the jacket is in pristine condition and appears as it would if the plastic wrap has just been removed.
- Very Goof Plus Plus [VG++]: A VG++ record is the same as NM but shows only faint scuffs on the surface that do not produce any noise. VG++ is for an LP with only minor scuffs that do not effect play. A VG++ record has no loud pops nor skips. A VG++ LP jacket will show very little wear with no creases, folds, cuts, seam splits or any other noticeable similar defect.
- Very Good Plus [VG+]: Shows some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs and/or very light scratches that do not affect play or the listening experience. Besides light background noise, a VG+ record will have no loud pops or skips. A VG+ LP jacket has some slight signs of wear also and may be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation, or corner cut indicating it was taken out of print and sold at a discount; may also have minor edge wear. No creases, folds, cuts, seam splits or any other noticeable similar defect.
- Very Good [VG]: Defects found in a VG record are more pronounced. Surface noise is evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during the song's intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise (no skips). Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that affect the sound quality but not play. A VG LP jacket may have some minor defects - minor creasing, bumped corners, slight small stains.
- Good [G]: A G condition record will play through without skipping but will have significant surface noise (i.e., pops) and scratches and visible groove wear. A G jacket may have split seams - especially at the bottom or the spine - folds, creases, stains, and/or fading, but not all together.
