OTTO KLEMPERER / The Philharmonia Orchestra – “KLEMPERER conducts MORE WAGNER” ORIG Columbia LP / SAX 2464 (UK, Stereo, 1963)
Happy to present a very pleasing copy of this blue/silver first label pressing.
Matrices: YAX 853-6 / YAX 854-10
The strong, thick card, front-laminated, flipback sleeve would be a minimum EX (Excellent) apart from tiny paper patches stuck, almost invisibly to the front laminate. No doubt removable and you need to look extremely closely to notice. Otherwise, a lovely sleeve, one slight staining spot to the rear panel and a hint of ring impression but no splits, rips, writing, laminate bubbles or lift, no real toning to the rear, good edges and superb spine.
The BS labels are virtually as issued – no staining, residue, writing or scrapes. I couldn’t decipher ANY spindle trails.
The sharp, medium-heavy weight vinyl is fabulous. 3 super fine and light scuff lines (only visible under very close scrutiny) and one tiny nick on Side 1 none of which affect the audio. IT HAS BEEN CAREFULLY LISTENED TO FOR YOU and it’s a real beauty play-wise. I picked up one pop between the 2 sides, maybe a hint of ever so light surface static. Rest assured this plays with near silent grooves, full clarity and definition and superb unhindered frequencies. No crackle, repetitive clicks, hiss or distortion. Grades a minimum EX (Excellent) visually but sounds like new. A terrific copy.
Presented with a new inner, the old one will be supplied but has a tear.

I do not use any more than ONE plus or minus between grades. After all, WHAT ON EARTH DOES VG+++++ MEAN? What is NM+? Or EX---? These are just some of the ridiculous gradings I’ve encountered on eBay. I am very careful using the EX (Excellent) grade. Excellent, by dictionary definition means ‘extremely good’ NOT ‘marked and slightly beat up with wear’!
