VERY RARE
1960s National Union of Tailors and Garment Workers Promotional Record
COME ON GAL
sung by Ewan MacColl and Peggy Seeger
with Bruce Turner (clarinet), Brian Daly (guitar) and Jim Bray (bass)
7" 45 rpm one-sided single printed on square picture card
lyrics and union promotion on the reverse, plus separate pamphlet with suggestions on how the record could be used to promote union activity
"Come on Gal" (written and composed by Ewan MacColl) is a light-hearted calyso style song encouraging young female workers in the rag trade to join the union. The backing musicians were some of the best at the time - Bruce Turner played saxophone and clarinet in Humphrey Lyttleton's band, Brian Daly was a top session guitarist (later wrote the Postman Pat theme I believe!) and Jim Bray had been a member of the original Chris barber band.
CONDITION: Very good.  Have checked it out and it still plays very well. It has probably been in the original envelope since the 1960s. The only slight damage is very minor bending of three corners.
