Description

BERT WILLIAMS cast a long shadow.  Though he died in 1922, some of his erstwhile colleagues, EDDIE HUNTER, ALEX ROGERS and LUCKEY ROBERTS kept on writing material that conjured him up, that could easily have been performed by him.

Stepping into the breach is EDDIE HUNTER, who performs two Rogers-Roberts songs excellently, in the droll, sidelong manner that Bert perfected.  He does a great job on "COMPLAININ' (It's Human Nature to Complain)" and "I GOT."

"Complainin'" was something of a hit in 1923, covered that year by Sophie Tucker, and later, played by Luckey Roberts on part three of the "Two Black Crows" series on Columbia. MUCH later, in 1958, he did a very satisfying piano solo of it for Good Time Jazz!

This original 1923 "Bat Wing" Victor 19154 is in clean E condition.

*****

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing!  My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value.  I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all.  If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will!  Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.”  I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
