Description

COMUS - FIRST UTTERANCE

A highly presentable copy of this 1968 UK 1st press psych gem with the glossy vinyl, impressive STEREO sound quality, and all important lyric insert being true highlights

Year/Label :  UK DAWN 1971

Label number :  DNLS 3019

Matrix numbers :  DNLS 3019A - 3  *T  /  DNLS 3019B - 3  *T

Stampers :  A 1  /  D 1

Rare and highly sought after 1971 UK 1st press prog gem with earliest 1Y/1Y matrices; very good plus (VG+) condition glossy, very thick and heavy vinyl with original jet black sheen still impressively intact and just a few very light and superficial scuff marks and hairlines, only visible with close scrutiny under a bright light (to be precise I would grade the condition of the vinyl as "very good" (VG) for side 1 and "excellent" (EX) for side 2, simply because on side 1 there is one scuff line (not a scratch) which is visible in normal daylight (when the vinyl is held at the right angle) and does traverse all of the tracks from the circumference to the dead wax area (see photo), though it is non-feelable, superficial, and does not impinge upon the sound quality;  very good plus (VG+) condition - though closer to "very good" than "excellent" - non-laminated Garrod and Lofthouse outer sleeve with firm edges & spine, though there is sporadic light scuffing on each albeit the spine text remains intact and perfectly readable. There are also some small and light storage and wear & tear marks on each of the front and reverse sides and some very minor edge fraying on the reverse side opening edge; in places the exterior of the gatefold comes across as a little "grubby". The corners remain nicely defined right angles but there is mild rubbing on each, and the inside of the gatefold is excellent with all art work and text remaining nicely intact. There is no cardboard creasing or unwanted writing. All art work, photos, and text remain impressively intact and with great definition still.  The all important lyric inner sheet remains in very good plus (VG+) condition (at least) with just a few small and very light marks and a rtiny "nick" on on side edge.  The stereo sound quality is overall excellent (EX) with no skips, repeats, jumps, clicks, distortion, or interference and any background crackle is at an absolute minimum with just an occasional hint during some of the intermissions and quieter moments - very trivial. Great tone and wonderful clarity throughout with every track a brilliant listen. Extraordinary prog musicianship!  Comes complete with original excellent (EX) condition plain white inner sleeve with "PATENTS APPLIED FOR" and "MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN" text, and with no side splits, creasing or discolouration.

Rare, highly sought after and very difficult to find now, and remaining a "must have" for any serious progressive rock vinyl collection.

POSTAGE COSTS :

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits.
