After their breakthrough on Heart Of The Congos with Lee Perry, Cedric Myton, Watty Burnett and Roy Johnson moved into a new phase with Congo Ashanti, first released in 1979 and now reissued via VP with a fresh master job. Striking out independently after the Black Ark sessions, the trio finally took over a new studio, just in time for the late 70s' roots reggae peak, which all but demanded such indicators of dedication. Tracks 'Youth Man', 'Days Chasing Days', 'Hail The World Of Jah' and 'Thief Is In The Vineyard' place spiritual themes and social reflection at front, backed by a heavyweight roster including Ernest Ranglin, Sly And Robbie and Tommy McCook.
