Up for sale is a BRAND NEW (BUT 54 YEARS SINCE ORIGINALLY RELEASED IN 1971! THINK THIS MIGHT QUALIFY AS 'NOS' OR 'NEW OLD STOCK' IF ANYTHING EVER DID!) 45 VINYL SINGLE BY MIDWEST BAND 'AFTERFLASH'. 'COOKBOOK' ON ONE SIDE (ORIGINALLY, THE B SIDE) BY 'DAMNATION OF ADAM BLESSING' AND JUST FEATURED AS LEAD TRACK ON THE NEW AWESOME 'BROWN ACID: THE 20TH TRIP' COMPILATION ALBUM AND 'LEAVE MYSELF TO DIE' BY AFTERFLASH AND ORIGINALLY THE 'A' SIDE OF THE SINGLE. Originally only 500 copies pressed and nearly all of those are long gone. I was in the band from first gig to last, with Jim Mazziotti, Chris Theobald, Jim Trewin. I am Dave Palmer, organ and rhythm guitar) and this is my remaining stash. I HAVE 6 FREAKIN' COPIES LEFT AND ABOUT THAT MANY POSTERS LEFT AS WELL.
Time these last few records get passed on to someone who will appreciate and enjoy them and they see the light of day. Will include 55-year-old original poster of us as well (and be quite happy to sign it if you want, or not) and will pack well so no damage in transit to record or poster (poster will be rolled up, NOT folded, they have never been folded). Records have been stored in cool climate-controlled storage for past half century in old road-case and cleaning those storages out now on wife's orders. She asked me a year or so ago why I needed 20 guitars (and 20 amps), and I had no answer, I felt like the 'Blizzard of Ozz' himself when Sharon would ask him a hard question, like 'what are you doing'!?! Should have applied the 'Mike Cambell Rule', I just need one (more) guitar!
This auction is for one original 45 and one original poster (posters are basically as new, just like records, no water stains, rips, tears etc. been out of the sun their entire life). If you want more than one set of these just let me know and we can do that till they are gone. I understand of the 10 cuts on the Brown Acid CD, only two of the original singles are currently available. Make that three now!
The single was recorded at Milt Campbell's small recording studio in Oelwein, Iowa, located in an old house and released on Hawkeye Records. Milt Cambell would turn over in his grave if he knew this single, he worked on was picked up by for inclusion on the Brown Acid Compilation CD. BTW google 'Milt Campbell' and see the interesting piece on him on HubCityMusic's awesome site. He was a lot like Leo Fender except Milt played steel guitar in a very popular country band in the area, the 'Country Buddies'. He was awesome and the main thing I remember about recording there was my Farfisa organ and Leslie 145 (yeah, I know a strange combo) picked up a radio station when I got it all up and running acting like a radio would, except the sound was coming out of a spinning Leslie, effin' weird if you know what a Leslie is. Never had that happen before or since and don't know how we fixed it, Milt probably did.
We were together in Northeast Iowa for several years in late 1960's and early 1970's, an interesting time if there ever was one! I remember I had a bumper sticker on the front of my Farfisa combo organ (just that tells you something about the era we are talking about) saying 'MAKE MUSIC NOT WAR' and remember, this was the time of the Vietnam war and all that as well. I remember that bumper sticker on the front of my Farfisa, made the local paper at the time when a reporter (forget his name but he did several pieces on us, and we appreciated it) took the photo and local paper published it!
Should put in a word for my bandmate Chris Theobald on bass (original 60's sunburst Fender P-bass and giant Ampeg bass rig. You could hear that man and I love a good bottom end and take that any way you want! He brought the song 'Cookbook' to us all (I must confess I was not hip to it and never heard of Damnation of Adam Blessing), he also named us. He sadly passed away in a tragic car wreck not long after we broke up. We played 'Cookbook' (along with 'Leave Myself to Die') at nearly every gig we played, so when we recorded the single, we were ready to go. Not a lot of pissin' aound.
Jim Mazziotti was our band leader (more or less, we were a hard group of dudes to lead, sorta like herding cats) and lead singer and drummer par excellence. Jimmy Trewin was our lead guitarist (old Gibson cream colored SG which he eventually sanded all the finish off of, which was popular in the day and my good buddy. We played in another band together 'The Orphans of Luv' before 'Afterflash'. Chris and Jim Mazziotti also played in another band, 'The 13th Hour', before 'Afterflash'. I still love the old band names! 
I was a Tele guy my entire life and the Tele I played at every gig, was a '52 Tele, blackguard body with a '68 neck (old guitar neck got run over by a Jeep after a gig while loading up, guy had no case but that wouldn't have likely mattered). Yeah, it's the Tele in the poster). The old neck had tire marks up and down it's back, they showed me when I bought it, changing necks on a Fender is not hard, nothing like on a Gibson, paid $100 hard earned lawn mowing money for it at Keeney's Guitar Studio in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, when I was just a kid. Was priced at $140, they took pity on me and I never forgot it, thank you Keeney's! 
For guitar freaks, I still remember they had a whole wall of old pre-CBS Fenders and all for like $140-$150 or so, Strats, Teles, Jags, Jazzy's and Fender Basses too, of course. Had a few Gibson's as well at a just a little more, maybe couple hundo and up. At the time Gibson's were a bit out of range of many guitarists and no guitarists I knew at the time had more than one real guitar (perhaps an old acoustic in addition to their work-horse electrics, but that would be it). No one yet collected guitars, but it was coming. Rolling Stone and Guitar Player had just come out in '67. Time's they were a changin' as soneone said.
Get the pair delivered free USPS Media Mail, to 48 states only. Sales tax on both already paid when purchased new by me, but you can argue that point with Ebay.
Will be well packed and padded in secure box. No bubble-wrap mailers for this sucker (or any of my books for that matter). Will ship cheaper via USPS Media Mail. Free pickup always in Reno. Will start this cheap but always reserve the right to change that or even end this completely depending. Best option if you want it and a good deal on it, is to place a bid sooner than later, so it stays put here till auction ends.
