Description
HERE IS a great double-sided Red-Label Gennett from 1926, featuring two peppy hot ensembles:
"COOLER HOT" is played by JACK STILLMAN'S ORCHESTRA, with considerable aplomb. These guys usually played waltzes, but here they wax torrid, proving that if you winked and gave the "O.K." sign to ANY bandleader in America in 1926, they could uncork their own special brand of hotness. Stillman himself composed it!
"NO MAN'S MAMA" played here by THE ORIGINAL INDIANA FIVE, is more hotness, compacted to five individuals. They were of the Italian-American branch of jazz [PETE PELIZZI (trombone), NICK VITALO (clarinet), TONY COLUCCI (banjo), etc.], which doesn't get nearly enough attention from jazz scholars. Everything they recorded was similarly hot.
This original 1926 red-label Gennett 3183 is in splendid E condition, very unusual for one of these!

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing! My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value. I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will! Shipping is done with expert care.
