Originally released in 1995, Kojak Variety is an album of cover versions by Elvis Costello. In a quest to find tracks that were less obvious, Costello went digging in shops from Camden Town to California, and came up with a selection he billed as 'some of my favourite songs performed with some of my favourite musicians'. From Cilla Black and The Kinks to Screamin' Jay Hawkins and The Supremes, Costello's tastes reach far and wide, and he brings his own lilt to each song. Pressed on chunky turquoise vinyl and featuring an additional insert, this is a high-end version of an album which shines a light on Costello's own influences that make him such a well-loved songwriter.
