In the Summer of 1970 Country Joe toured England and Scandinavia playing at the Bath and Bickershaw Festivals. Both were huge successes and he decided to stay in London and record some of his new songs. He booked De Lane Lea studio for a couple of weeks and started trying to find people we knew to play on the record. Eventually, Country Joe wound up with among others Peter Green,  Danny Thompson and Spencer Davis)

This album features a different style of songwriting than the 5 Country Joe and The Fish albums—it's more political—more to the point6 ("Mr. Big Pig" more topical)—("Air Algiers"). Joe spent some time in the South of France, and went to Algiers to see if he could find Eldrige Cleaver an important member of the Black Panther Party who had fled the USA to avoid being arrested. —He didn't run into him. The title song "Hold On it's Coming " was subject to much controversy in the press.

Many critics thought the hitchhiker was a reference to Christ—Joe won't say; and many different allusions about the song and it's meaning (if any) showed up in the press from time to time. The album itself got great radio play, but was confusing to stores and buyers because of the cover. Many thought it was the soundtrack to a movie—since there was no movie, the records wasn't adequately stocked. Goes to show what art can sometimes do to an album release.

(b)          The record is  apparently pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(c)           The record is believed to come in its original stock inner sleeve.

(d)          Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

COVER IS (WEAK) NEAR MINT, STILL SEALED AND COVERED IN ITS ORIGINAL ►SHRINK WRAP

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-         The  cover has a few yellowish dust speckles scattered here and there (these tiny spots are not overly obtrusive or distracting and can be easily cleaned up after the shrink wrap has been removed)

-        Cover has a visible wrinkle (bubble in paper slick) on the front panel

-         Cover has one corner slightly worn / dinged (nothing significant)

-         Cover shows JUST A HINT of yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging.

NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:

-        No split seams

-        No ring wear

-        No cut-out (drill) holes.

-        No cut-out corners

-        No saw-marks or indents

-        No dirt/dust rubbing stains (friction marks caused by rubbing against other covers)
