Great record which has been hyped as "loner folk" when really only one track could be described as such on this album. Diverse realms are traveled within folk, rock and country flowing with a consistency ranging from Beatlesque Power Pop with a Nick Lowe production vibe (Lovers Lane rec. at Twin Tone) to Texas Roadhouse hard blues / country rock on Rodney Crowell's "Ain't Livin Long Like This". Rural Rock, Psychedelic Folk, Alternative Country, Power Pop and Folk Rock are more fitting "genres" representative of this private pressing record in addition to the one "Loner Folk" track. This being connected with Twin Tone records home of The Replacements, it has a similarity in sound & approach as Westerberg & early Replacements. If not for this record being released in 1980, one could assume Craig Asp had been a fan of Uncle Tupelo! Makes me wonder, perhaps Jay & Jeff were & still are fans of this homemade document. A scarce and obscure find.
