The Cramps were never a band built for polite surroundings. Recorded across two nights at New York's Peppermint Lounge in 1983, this live set catches Lux Interior and Poison Ivy at a point where their cult had begun to snowball, though there's nothing self-conscious about the performance. If anything, it finds them in especially feral form. Recorded across two nights at New York's Peppermint Lounge, it barrels from the swaggering 'Thee Most Exalted Potentate Of Love' into the deliciously unhinged 'You Got Good Taste' before tearing through 'Faster Pussycat' and a gloriously ragged 'Psychotic Reaction'. The atmosphere borders on chaotic throughout. Then again, a perfectly behaved Cramps performance would have missed the point entirely.
