Description
This is a very fine copy from a 1980s repressing of the debut 12" by British group Crass, originally released on the U.K. Small Wonder label in 1979. The group was part of an anarchist commune that engaged in various intertwined political and artistic activities. These activities are documented in the film, There is No Authority but Yourself, which is well worth a view. They frequently targeted the Christian religion in their diatribes while also co-opting its symbolism for their own purposes. The latter is reflected in the title of this disc, which refers to an episode in the New Testament gospels. Crass were very influential in Britain and elsewhere in their day, though more for their politics and as exemplars of early punk's D.I.Y. ideals than for their music. This record, though, does include the one song of theirs that became something of an anthem, "Do They Owe Us a Living?" It was pressed in France. Like most of the group's LPs, their debut is housed in a large black and white foldout poster sleeve. It's like new -- M(-). The disc is clean, and plays with minimal surface noise -- a strong M-.
I’m in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their sleeves. The sleeves have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded (spot checked) discs except where otherwise noted.
