CREAM, WHEELS OF FIRE on POLYDOR 582031, 582032   This is a copy of the earliest first UK pressing of Cream's iconic 'Wheels of Fire' double LP issued in 1968. It is in super condition with EX vinyl and near perfect audio playback. It has first press matrix numbers 582031 A-1 420, 582031 B-1 420, 582032 A-1 420, 582032 B-1 420. Like all genuine first press copies it has mother stampers 1,1 on all four sides.

It has ROUGH textured Polydor labels which only genuine first press copies had. All later copies had shiny labels. This copy has a factory error. Both sides on the first LP have the same label - the side B label. I'm sure this makes it rarer but not more valuable I think.

Like only genuine first press copies the label has an inverted triangle with 'M' at the top and '33' inside the triangle. Later pressings have 'M' or 'ST' and '33'within two overlapping circles.

In terms of condition this is a super copy. The vinyls are EX+. There are light non-sounding hairlines and a few scuffs on the vinyl but there is absolutely no affect on the sound reproduction at all. I have created a digital file of both LPs and there were no clicks or pops at all to remove. It plays perfectly with no background at all - beautifully pristine sound throughout.

The original MATT red polydor labels are EX. No markings or writing. See photo example.

The gatefold non-laminated cover is notorious for rubbing and shelf wear which removes the shining silver effect. This copy is cover is not mint but is still at least VG++. There is a little edge wear and ring wear but as can be seen in the photograph it is still in nice collectable condition.

There are two original 'PLASTIC BAGS CAN BE DANGEROUS' inner sleeves in EX condition.

Altogether a great copy of this magnificent LP.

I am a collector and I only sell records from my personal collection. I aim to be totally objective about the records I sell. However please note that unless the play quality is specifically mentioned records are graded visually. I aim to describe the visual appearance of all items accurately using the standards below which are based on the UK Record Collector Price Guide. The highest grade I use now is NEAR MINT ('UNPLAYED' if still sealed in shrink wrap or occasionally full MINT but only if the provenance of the item suggests this to be correct). Records graded EX+ or EX++ would probably be called 'near mint' or 'mint' by most sellers. Please READ THE ITEM DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY and study photographs to avoid disappointment later. I will refund only on items which do not conform to the description and standards set out here.

GRADING SYSTEM

NEAR MINT: The record appears to be in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and other inserts are perfect. For MINT grading see above

EXCELLENT: The item has been played and may have some light surface marks but there is very little, if any, lessening in sound quality. Cover and contents have slight wear.

VERY GOOD: The record has been played quite alot but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Cover and contents show some wear.

GOOD:The record has been played many times and the sound quality has deteriorated noticeably. The cover and contents are often damaged.

I use EX++,EX+,VG++,VG+ as subsidiary gradings. Unless the record is extremely rare I do not sell items which are less than VG in condition.
