FRESH CREAM by The CREAM MONO vinyl Album
You are viewing my rarely seen MONO vinyl album from 1966 by the CREAM entitled, 'FRESH CREAM'.
Cream were a 1960s British rock supergroup consisting of bassist/vocalist Jack Bruce, guitarist/vocalist Eric Clapton, and drummer Ginger Baker. Their sound was characterised by a hybrid of blues rock, hard rock and psychedelic rock, combining the psychedelia-themed lyrics, Eric Clapton's blues guitar playing, Jack Bruce's voice and blues bass playing and Ginger Baker's jazz-influenced drumming.
"Fresh Cream is the debut studio album by British supergroup Cream. It was the first LP release of producer Robert Stigwood's new "Independent" Reaction Records label. FRESH CREAM was released in the UK as both a mono and stereo version on 9th December 1966, (the same time as the single release of "I Feel Free"). The album was released in the United States a month later (in January 1967), by Atco Records. To date, neither the original UK mono or USA mono versions have been officially released on CD, only the stereo versions."
The album contains the tracks:
Side One:
- N.S.U.
- Sleepy Time Time
- Dreaming
- Sweet Wine
- Spoonful
Side Two:
- Cats Squirrel
- Four Until Late
- Rollin' And Tumblin'
- I'm So Glad
- Toad.
This album was made in England and has the Reaction reference number of 593 001. It has the matrix number of 593001 A2 (side one) and 593001 B1 (side two).
The record itself is in very good condition. There are some light surface marks to both sides and although this does produce some light 'crackle' on quieter parts of the recording, it does not detract from the music itself. The Side Two label has the essential 1st press only M.C.P.S. label miscredit. There are no sticks or jumps and very few spindle marks. A previous owner (Geoff) has written his name in ballpoint pen on both the side one and side two label (good old Geoff!). Despite the writing, I critically grade this album as EX/VG+.
The album cover is the original front laminated version made by Ernest J Day, London (with the 'Patents Pending' text). As the photograph shows, there is some light wear to the edges (mainly where the lamination ends) and a few creases to the front. The reverse has some age discolouration and a minor stain located at the bottom right corner (again visible in the photograph). Good old Geoff strikes again with his full name (Geoff Fowler) being written on the reverse of the sleeve to the top left corner. Despite my cover description, I would say this is still a pretty good example and would again critically grade it as VG.
This album will be posted in a good quality 'cruciform' style record mailer and in the UK will be posted by Special Delivery to ensure adequate insurance cover. Overseas will be posted by International Signed For.
