When Cream released WHEELS OF FIRE, they had established themselves as the premier blues-rock band due to the success of their first two albums and the extraordinary chemistry between the band's members. As a result of this synergy, Cream also enjoyed a fiery live reputation. The double-album represented both sides of their musical persona. The first record was a studio job, where the band mixed in originals with covers of Howlin' Wolf ("Sitting On Top Of The World") and Albert King ("Born Under A Bad Sign"). The songs written by the band all contained unique touches. "As You Said" found Jack Bruce putting his bass down and picking up a cello, "Pressed Rat And Warthog" sounded like an English folk tale due to Ginger Baker's clipped recitation and the inclusion of baroque horns, and "White Room" overflowed with waves of Eric Clapton's wah-wah-drenched guitar.The second record was recorded over a four-day span at San Francisco's Winterland and Fillmore West. Versions of "Toad" and Willie Dixon's "Spoonful" demonstrate the band's intricate interplay, but most impressive is a blistering reading of Robert Johnson's "Crossroads," in which all three members seem to be soloing simultaneously in a jaw-dropping display of fury and bravado.

Disc One has some mild surface use , with several light marks (very light and silent) and plays through really well : Graded Visually at VERY GOOD , Aurally EXCELLENT condition.

Disc Two has light surface use , and just a couple of very faint surface traces , and plays through really well :Visually and Aurally EXCELLENT condition.

All four labels have very light use , mild spindle use : EXCELLENT condition.

The sleeve has some mild wear , with some edge and spine wear ...... mild ring impression ........ bottom right - hand corner rub : Graded at overall VERY GOOD condition.

I grade items ( using the UK Record Collector Grading System) beneath a light , to be sure of condition

I do not believe it is necessary to use the eBay buzzwords such as STUNNING !! RARE !! AWESOME !! , padded out with grossly long winded 'descriptions' ..... Many of the 'experts' who use this method of selling also add technical information , which is totally unfounded and does not correspond with the actual facts , and would be laughable but for the fact it is totally misleading. I take time and care to graded items correctly , and only list quality records , with concise , accurate grading descriptions

I have been a lifelong music fan , my first concert visit was in 1957 (Birmingham Town Hall Skiffle Contest !) and have bought records of all the great music since 1959 , and had the privelege of seeing most of the great artists 'live' ( I saw The Beatles twice and Segovia !)

I began selling professionally in 1976 , and have a wide knowledge of the items I sell (and always learning !) having bought copies of my own at time of issue , always being interested in the sleeve , label and disc variations. If you have any queries , I will do my best to answer correctly
