Label Conditions: Both stunning condition: ultra clean and highly attractive with any of the tiny few spindle marks super-fine, faint barely even showing. These are so clean and fresh looking, without doubt hardly ever handled or likely played. The record so ‘secure’ inside it’s original date-coded inner, I am certain it has not seen light-of-day for decades.

Mode / Speed: Stereo / 33.3 rpm.

Warps: Assume all records I offer have no warping of any significance and all tracking is easy and effortless and should play on all turntables and even ‘budget’ decks.

Weight of this Record: 156 grams. A massive pressing with very thick vinyl, way over average for even the 1960s, over 30 grams heavier than the last blue original I sold last year. This album and copy is pure class.

Country of Manufacture: England.

Rarity: Rarer on the original blue labels, more are seen and offered on the repressed black labels. Almost a ‘freak’ pressing too on such heavy vinyl. The one and only lady owner adored this band, purchased their albums very closely to issue time, played them once or twice and put them to tape. If you need this classic record looking and sounding like new, well i t’s here.

Brief Info: Second album by the kings of ‘swamp rock’, this one really got their special sound established. Featuring one of the most distinctive vocalists in rock, John Fogerty, this band went from strength to strength. What a pleasure to hear this vintage copy sounding so impressively clean too. The massively-pressed record could pass for new and plays to perfection. The cover is almost the same and the double laminate gleams. A truly stunning example that will delight even the most critical audiophile purist.

Cover Grade and Format: Very critically graded EX++, but Mint(-) would not be unreasonable and this grading hardly does this beauty full justice. A single, fully laminated format. This was printed and made in England by MacNeill Press Ltd, London. This includes it’s original date-coded Polydor-style polylined inner (as seen in close-up).

Cover Laminate and Front: With it’s dazzling out-of-focus psych-style artwork, the front looks more than impressive with a laminate gleam and freshness of unusual beauty. One small low-level half moon surface crease and small few edge hairlines that few covers will ever avoid as the bare minimum. The laminate is fully adhered with no lifting or blisters even worthy of note, this unusual but fantastic news for the cover connoisseur. With any record pressmark only very light near the top edge with a mere trace of dulling there, the sheer beauty of the bright, vivid artwork shines through. This has not aged at all and has the freshness of a just bought copy. This is as smooth as glass and shines like a mirror, even under light even the lack of fine hairline marks is incredible. The fine exposed strip on the right edge where the laminate ends a little short of full width is unworn and has no grime-line formation. Cover protected from new and the difference it makes is more than evident. An absolutely superb front that raises the bar very high.

Cover Laminate and Back: The back is of equal quality and also looks fantastic, just a few fine edge creases, mostly hairlines again. This side has three exposed edge strips and again they are practically devoid of wear or issues. A minor and faint end of laminate burr near the bottom right corner, but this is being almost beyond critical. Again beautifully shiny, fresh and clear, simply gorgeous.

Top Edge: Unworn.

Bottom Edge: Any thickening to the back panel end is ultra minor, this being impressive for a resting edge that can be said has barely any real wear.

Right Edge(s), and Type: A slight burr trace near the very top of the front but little else. Clean, sharp with little wear and no feathering, guaranteed untrimmed. Record enters on this edge.

Spine and Text: A super spine too: solid, straight with any compression traces minuscule, the ends gently taper in manufacture. All text is perfect and unworn under the solid and uncracked laminate.

Corners: All practically as made, any tip rubs are tiny and faint. Shape remains exceptional for all.

Cover Summary: A fantastic all-round example of this original late 60s cover. It delight most-all collectors, these are seldom seen in such eye-pleasing condition.

The Inner Sleeve: The original Polydor-style polylined inner is included in excellent condition. Some clues to age with some mild glue darkening and faint toning but all edges unsplit and a superbly neat window. No guessing on age of this one with its 069 date coding seen on my close-up picture.

Vinyl Condition/Visual Grading: Mint(-), even with full natural sunlight beaming in through my window (which makes a real change of late), this marvellous record shows barely any noteworthy surface blemishes. A superb visual copy that is very clean, shiny, intense black and heavily pressed with way above average weight. This beautiful record retains a deep lustre and freshness and please remember its vintage, now over 40-years-old, an incredibly preserved piece that’s clearly hardly ever been used. A visual beauty that will please most-all collectors.

Album Played For Grading: Yes. [I play ALL records I offer before submitting to Ebay, also the record is played in its entirety unless clearly stated otherwise. I do NOT play snippets or joining grooves to check for sound quality and quietness – I play from the beginning to end via clinically revealing B&W speakers that include the legendary tweeter from their awesome Nautilus range that reveals every blemish or miniscule sound present on any record.]

Sound Quality and Audio Grading: This original blue labelled Liberty record plays up to its high visual grading with nothing to fault. Strong, distortion-free sound, all frequencies are sharp and clear - sound quality is impeccable with a wide dynamic range and very detailed sound. Devoid of surface sounds and no pops or clicks were noted and this is an exceptional clean, heavyweight pressing of the utmost quality. Few copies will even match let alone outperform this very early pressing I feel sure. Both channels are clean and sharp with no unwanted noise, just fantastic clean sound that takes you into the recording studio itself. Nothing spoilt my pleasure when play-grading this wonderful record. This copy will prove very difficult to find better, on the blue label especially. This classic set merits my highest possible recommendation, a delight from start to finish.

You will NOT get tired, dull looking, dust infested records inside worn and foggy covers with tatty inners from this seller and that’s a promise and guarantee. All records are posted in professional thick boxes (NOT Mailers or Cruciforms, these do not offer maximum protection). SOME GENERAL GUIDES TO WEAR AND CONDITIONS TO HELP YOU DECIDE

My Use of Description Terminology: Surface Marks = Superficial, usually light marks, hairlines or light scuffs that rarely sound. Scratch = a needle mark that goes below the record’s surface, some will sound, some will not, my play-grade will inform. Original = a record that has been pressed with the first label design which does NOT neccessarily mean a very first pressed record. First Pressing = A record that I believe or know to be a genuine very first pressed record. I do not claim to always know for sure, and that’s why I state the stamper and matrix numbers if at all possible, for those who claim to know what they all mean, the information is there for the collector to decide. I prefer to use terms like ‘Early Copy’ rather than ‘First Pressing’ if I am not totally sure. Surface Sound = Mild, light sound, usually light crackle or similar. Distortion = Break up of the actual sound caused by groove wear or damage from a chipped stylus – the most undesirable form of unwanted sound, vintage mono records were the most prone to this happening but not exclusively so. The symptoms of distortion are high frequency clipping, moderate constant crackle or an echo type sound quality. Violin, piano and vocals are most prone to groove-wear distortion. Feathering = Fraying or softening of the entry edge of a cover. Covers with feathered entrance edges are more likely to have had the actual record inserted and removed more than a non-feathered, sharp-edged cover which are always far more attractive. Set Off, actually a printer’s term for dark ink leaving mild residue on pale or white ink when rested upon. e.g. when a gatefold cover has black ink closed against white, this can leave some black residue on the pale area – this is mostly unavoidable or course.

The Argument for Vinyl Original sound and mix (mono mixes are rarely available on CD), high quality sound on clean copies (played on a hi-end dedicated analogue system – breathtaking sound!), beautiful, large format covers, artwork, inserts and even full size posters etc; huge investment potential, and the pleasure of owning ‘the real thing’.
