Background -
Peter Green (born Peter Allen Greenbaum; 29 October 1946) is a British blues rock guitarist and the founder of the band Fleetwood Mac. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 for his work with the group, Green's songs such as "Albatross", "Black Magic Woman", "Oh Well" and "Man of the World" have been recorded by artists such as Santana, Aerosmith, Status Quo, Black Crowes, Midge Ure, Tom Petty, Judas Priest and Gary Moore, who recorded Blues for Greeny, a covers album of Green's compositions.A major figure and bandleader in the "second great epoch" of the British blues movement, Green inspired B.B. King to say, "He has the sweetest tone I ever heard; he was the only one who gave me the cold sweats." Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page have both lauded his guitar playing. Green's playing was noted for its idiomatic string bending and vibrato and economy of style.
He was ranked 38th in Rolling Stone's list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time". His tone on the Bluesbreakers instrumental "The Supernatural" was rated as one of the 50 greatest of all time by Guitar Player. In June 1996 Green was voted the third-best guitarist of all time in Mojo magazine.
Green had the opportunity to fill in for Eric Clapton in John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers for three concerts. Soon after, when Clapton left the Bluesbreakers, he became a full-time member of Mayall's band.
Mike Vernon, a producer at Decca, recalls Green's début with the Bluesbreakers:
As the band walked in the studio I noticed an amplifier which I never saw before, so I said to John Mayall, "Where's Eric Clapton?" Mayall answered, "He's not with us anymore, he left us a few weeks ago." I was in a shock of state [sic] but Mayall said, "Don't worry, we got someone better." I said, "Wait a minute, hang on a second, this is ridiculous. You've got someone better?? Than Eric Clapton??" John said, "He might not be better now, but you wait, in a couple of years he's going to be the best. Then he introduced me to Peter Green".
Green made his recording debut in 1966 with the Bluesbreakers on the album A Hard Road (1967), which featured two of his own compositions, "The Same Way" and "The Supernatural". The latter was one of Green's first instrumentals, which would soon become a trademark. So proficient was he that his musician friends bestowed upon him the nickname "The Green God".
In 1967, Green decided to form his own blues band and left the Bluesbreakers.
In The Skies is an album by British blues rock musician Peter Green, who was the founder of Fleetwood Mac and a member from 1967–70. Released in 1979, this was his second solo album, and the first after eight years of obscurity.
Accompanying Green on this album were several experienced session musicians, including Snowy White, who went on to work with Pink Floyd before joining Thin Lizzy. White contributed some of the lead guitar work on the album, since Green was not yet fully comfortable with his return to recording after his long break. Also present was Green's colleague and friend from his earliest bands, Peter Bardens.
All tracks were written by Peter Green, with some of the lyrics written by Green's then wife Jane.
Rehearsal versions of "In the Skies" and "Slabo Day" were released on Snowy White's Goldtop compilation album in 1996.

CONDITION Details:
The glossy GATE-FOLD LP jacket is in near mint minus condition! The jacket is tight and clean, with NO seam splits. The corners are solid, with just a bit of shelf wear the seams and corners. There are 2 small stickers on the back cover. The colors on the jacket are sharp...just lovely (see pictures with this listing as they are of the actual item).
The GREEN VINYL LP is in near mint minus condition! We found that the vinyl looked superb on this vintage LP. There are no significant marks and the LP retains much of the original gloss and sheen - obviously well taken care of! There are NO serious spindle marks on the record labels either. Just beautiful GERMAN made vinyl!A Short Note About LP GRADING -
- Mint = Only used for sealed items.
- Near Mint = Virtually flawless in every way.
- Near Mint Minus = Item has some minor imperfections, some audible.
- Excellent = Item obviously played and enjoyed with some noise.
