Description

CRESCENTS (LIVERPOOL, UK)
EXTREMELY SCARCE 1958 7" ON COLUMBIA DB4093
ENGINEERED BY JOE MEEK
STUNNING EX+++++/ MINT- CONDITION

A: WRONG
B: BABY BABY BABY
YEAR: 1958
PRODUCER: UNKNOWN
ENGINEER: JOE MEEK

BOTH SIDES ARE FINE SLICES OF DOO WOP STYLE VOCAL OVER UP BEAT BACKING.
A SIDE IS A STANDARD STYLE PRODUCTION WITH SWINGING SAXOPHONE
B SIDE IS MORE EXPERIMENTAL WITH OBVIOUS NODS TO MEEK INFLUENCED ECHO PRODUCTION (ESPECIALLY IN THE PIANO BREAK AND BACKING VOCALS).

This ultra rare piece of vinyl is highly valued in the current Record Collector Rare Record Price Guide.
I know of only 2 copies auctioned in the last 7 years and none have been close to the condition of this copy!
the labels and vinyl are practically stone mint (as you can see by zooming in on the pics) but I always like to undergrade to avoid disappointment so I would conservatively grade as EX+/M-!! There are next to no spindle marks or feathering of the centre hole, truly amazing.. I would be very surprised if a better copy ever surfaces!

 cut and paste these links to hear both tracks on youtube:

I HAVE BEEN COLLECTING RECORDS FOR OVER 30 YEARS AND HAVE NOW DECIDED TO AUCTION OFF SELECT ITEMS SURPLUS TO REQUIREMENT FROM MY EXTENSIVE RECORD COLLECTION.

REFUNDS ACCEPTED IF NOT AS DESCRIBED - I ALWAYS UNDERGRADE TO AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT AND WILL ALWAYS POINT OUT ANY REAL ISSUES WITH THE ITEM IN THE LISTING.
