Description
CRESSIDA - " ASYLUM " , Vertigo Records (6360 025) 1971.
This is the ultra rare, original Vertigo issue Cressida LP from 1971 - the group's second LP, and in the opinion of both myself and many others, both their own absolute creative pinnacle and one of the greatest "Prog" albums of all time.
Serious bidders will no doubt already know all about this LP, but still I must point out quite how good this record is - where some prog albums haven't really stood the test of time and now mainly serve to reignite the listeners memory/nostalgia, musically, this LP is still right on the money! Vertigo didn't get their fearsome reputation by accident and this LP must be one of the leading lights, it really does sound as fresh today as it did way back in 1971.
TRACKLISTING:
SIDE A = ASYLUM, MUNICH, GOODBYE POST OFFICE TOWER GOODBYE, SURVIVOR, REPRIEVED.
SIDE B = LISA, SUMMER WEEKEND OF A LIFETIME, LET THEM COME WHEN THEY WILL.
CONDITION:
VINYL = V.G.+ (At first glance this LP looks pretty clean, however, under my bright grading lamp I can make out quite few very light surface marks and paper scuffs on both sides. All is not lost though, during playback I was taken aback by how good it still sounds! During the silent sections there is a small amount of surface noise, and I did notice an occasional bit of faint noise during one or two quieter parts of the record, but when the music kicks in properly this LP sounds very strong - no distortion or continuous surface noise from over playing, no signs of groove damage from poor audio equipment, etc. I also noticed how much better this original LP sounds than these so-called "re-mastered" CD's. Realistically, if you prefer LP's and collect this kind of music and you want to hear this beautiful album in all it's unadulterated analogue glory, but cannot quite afford to pay the many, many hundreds of pounds needed for a mint copy, then this is definitely the one for you! It is a good honest "playing copy" which is probably in just as good condition as many of the records you already own, and vastly superior to any of this remastered CD or vinyl repress rubbish littering up ebay!)
SLEEVE = V.G. (No big, rips, tears, creases or defacing. But as you can see in my photos, this gatefold sleeve is a bit dirty and discoloured and a bit worn around the edges... still better than a CD inlay though!)
PLEASE NOTE: We are a long standing physical record shop and specialist mail-order firm with literally decades of experience under our collective belts (not one of the new generation of "have-a-go-heroes" all to prevalent here on ebay) - we know how to grade records! Please read my description carefully before bidding and don't be put off by my accurate grading - in many cases records graded much higher by other sellers will turn up in vastly inferior condition.
THIS AUCTION WILL START AT 99p WITH NO RESERVE, SO YOU COULD END UP WITH A REAL BARGAIN!
