Description

Buddy Holly's influence on the development of popular music can't be underestimated. Quite simply, he was the first pop (or 'rock' if you prefer) genius and his untimely death set pop music back years - it wasn't until the Beatles that pop found it's way again. Anyway, all that aside, here's his 1st UK hit 'THAT'LL BE THE DAY' b/w 'I'M LOOKING FOR SOMEONE TO LOVE' on CORAL . As tends to be the way with 78s, there are some non-sounding 'scuff' marks caused by play on an auto-changer player, but no scratches, knocks, thumps jumps or skips. There is a little (but only a little!) quiet crackle here-and-there. I have thoroughly play-tested this disc (on a PYE Black Box) and it sounds just great. In my opinion 78s of the period sound better than the 45RPM versions. Perhaps that's because of the larger grooves and faster speed.. I'm sure someone more technically minded than me could explain it! Note that record shops often replaced the rather flimsy company sleeves with their own sturdier ones (which also acted as adverts for the shop). Such is the case with this disc. This disc will be shipped in professional cruciform mailer with stiffeners and bubble wrapping to ensure it reaches you in one excellent piece!
