CRISIS
Crisis started out in late 70s UK with the rise of the punk movement. They were at the forefront of the political take on punk.
Their songs were about the state of the country, the government and anti-Nazism. They released three 7" singles and a mini-LP.
They split in 1980. Swap a couple of vowels and you end up with Crass. Though not a lot in common musically and politically
they both signalled the end of punk as fun, spontaneity, mischieveness and anarchy (as a way of feeling).
In this new 'new wave' of punk, Punk was seen as a tool of protest... not the 'If the kids are united 'schoolboy
vision of Sham or the vague political slogans of The Clash but a more hard edged, radical and political one.
Crass, Crisis and the bands they bred became the new puritans
