Record Grading
I grade most records visually but will play test if some surface marks are in question.
M Sealed = Mint Sealed is the top grade and the item will look like it just came from the factory.
NM Sealed = Near Mint Sealed may have some torn plastic but the item has clearly never been fully opened or played. Any major tears in the plastic or flaws in the cover will be noted.
(Any sealed record may have some marks on the outside of the plastic.)
M = Mint is the top grade for played records and other than maybe a fingerprint will look like you just opened it.
NM = Near Mint records may have very few slight surface marks that do not affect play and a slight loss of luster.
VG+ = Very Good+ records have some surface marks that do not overpower the sound quality. (Visually this record still looks great)
VG = Very Good records may have several surface marks that are audible but should not cause skipping and may also have loss of luster. Most used records will get this rating. Some of these records may look bad but still play through with some noise.(Still a nice playable record)
G = Good records will have several scratches and marks, plays with noise and probably skip. (fills the collection)
G- = Good- We usually don't list records in this grade except for some rare and hard to find items. Lots of deep scratches record will skip alot.
Anything lower than G- will not be graded (Defects will be described)
