Description
London Records stereo CS 6099 with early red FFSS wideband label and blueback jacket, pressed in England by Decca Records. Stampers are 4E 4E. This is one where the London may actually be preferable to the Decca, SXL 2178, which has the concerto all on one side (along with the 2nd concerto, on the other side). This has the third movement of the concerto on side 2, along with the Pathetique Sonata.
Wilhelm Backhaus plays the Beethoven piano concerto #1, with Hans Schmidt-Isserstedt and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Also includes the piano sonata #8, "Pathetique", op. 13. See pics for program details.
