This LP is on the Canadian Yorkville Gold Label and is a Mono LP. Vinyl is very good, Jacket is near mint (still in shrink!) This is the original first pressing from 1967 from Canada.
Original Canadian pressing , a compilation from 1967 featuring Pop, Garage, Psych and Soul groups from Canada that performed on the Toronto CTV television program After Four.. This is the second in a series of compilations put out on the Yorkeville label the other being "Yorkville Evolution" Many of the top singles released in late '60s Toronto were on the Yorkeville Label. This comp has many excellent tracks, including tracks by The Ugly Ducklings, Willapuss Wallapus, Bob Francis (?), and American expat. Ronnie Hawkins
An totally unexpected surprise is found side two, track two, credited to "Bob Francis -I'm a Bad Bad Boy" in reality the track is an almost note for note cover, with a few added trifles, of Syd Barretts' "See Emily Play".This may be the first time that anyone had covered Pink Floyd on a recording. Hard to say why the track was camouflaged with the phony title and, likely, artist name, though one can guess that it had something to do with money.
In the 1960s, Yorkville flourished as Toronto's Bohemian cultural center. It was the breeding ground for some of Canada's most noted musical talents, including Joni Mitchell, Neil Young and Gordon Lightfoot. Yorkville was also known as the Canadian capital of the hippie movement. In 1968, nearby Rochdale College at the University of Toronto was opened on Bloor Street as an experiment in counterculture education.
