Not only are you getting the limited edition of the 7" vinyl of Eddie Vedder's " ALL THE WAY ", on the A side with Steve Goodman's " GO CUBS GO " on the B side, but additionally, you also get not just (1) newspaper , but (2) Chicago newspapers, the CHICAGO TRIBUNE, & the CHICAGO DAILY HERALD that were released on Nov. 3, the day after the Cubs won their 1st WORLD SERIES championship in 108 YEARS. This 7" Vinyl limited collectible was available to a select # of Cubs fans on July 6 game vs. the Cincinnati Reds, if you were holding a special ticket for the promotion. Vinyl was pressed at Jack White's Third Man Pressing in Detroit. Side A features Eddie Vedder's single, a tribute he wrote for the Cubs in 2007 "ALL THE WAY ", and Side B features lifelong Cubs fan, Steve Goodman's single, written in 1984," GO CUBS GO ".
A story about how this Eddie Vedder tune came to be : Vedder has attended the Cubs fantasy camp for several years, and while attending one year, Cubs SS and 1B, Ernie Banks suggested Vedder write a song about the Cubs. Vedder wrote " ALL THE WAY " the night before camp opened, and first performed it at a Pearl Jam concert on Aug. 2, 2007 at the Vic Theatre in Chicago with Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood in attendence, along with a few other Cubbies . The following day, Aug. 3, Eddie Vedder sang "Take Me Out To The Ballgame " at Wrigley, for the 7th inning stretch, (for the 4th time), and threw out the ceremonial 1st pitch before the game. Vedder's band PEARL JAM, was in Chicago that week where the band headlined at LOLLAPALOOZA, which ended Aug. 5, 2007.
