Cyndi Lauper - What’s Going On 1987 US Sealed Vinyl/Maxi-Single containing 4 total tracks with What’s Going On versions: Club Version and Long Version on Side One both mixed by Shep Pettibone and Instrumental Version on Side Two plus ‘One Track Mind’ (Photo #5). “What’s Going On” reached #29 on the US Billboard Adult Contemporary Chart, #17 on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs Chart, #7 on the US Billboard Hot Dance Music Maxi Singles Sales Chart - props to club remixes by Shep Pettibone then peaked at #12 on the US Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart. This 12” single release is a remix with an alternate vocal used in the intro and this is the single version that most often appears on Cyndi Lauper compilations. Cyndi Lauper's cover was a hit worldwide, went to #39 on the Dutch Singles Chart (Single Top 100), #30 on the Canada RPM Singles Chart, Dutch Singles Chart (Dutch Top 40) and New Zealand Singles Chart (RIANZ), #27 on the Belgian Singles Chart (Ultratop 50 Flanders) and #19 on the Chilean Singles Chart.
