William S. Burroughs, a true cult figure was tapped to record Call Me Burroughs in the 1965 and original pressings go for top dollar. Luckily for those of us on a budget, the Superior Viaduct label (SV094) re-released Call Me Burroughs in 2016. Although he later read his compositions over music—this is pure spoken word and essential!

As a leader of The Beat Movement (with Jack Kerouac & Allen Ginsberg) he gave heavy metal music it’s name, as well as many bands (Steely Dan) and album titles (The Bongos Beat Hotel). Burroughs’ experimental nature and his espousal of drug use made him an attractive figure in the 1960’s counter-culture.

Liner notes are in French and English and all material was written by William Burroughs himself (excerpts from “The Naked Lunch” and “Nova Express”). Will Hollywood Ever Learn?
