Description

Super rare Balisier Records LP album 33 1/3. Calypso In Steel performed by Yacht Club Steel Band / Orchestra. Steel drums and maracas, few vocals. Sleeve credits them as Yacht Club Steel Band and the label credits them as Yacht Club Steel Orchestra. Date is unknown to me, but most likely recorded and released in the late 1950's or early 1960's. Featuring songs composed by Mighty Sparrow, Cyril Diaz and Lord Melody. Recorded in Trinidad B.W.I. (British West Indies) and manufactured in the United States. Track listing below. I place the record at a grade of VG, but listen to the sampler below of raw recordings in HD and judge for yourself. Also, the pictures are probably more easily viewed within the video in fullscreen rather than the ones posted above. Minor clicks and pops throughout. Record is clean and glossy with few scuffs and scratches. Labels are nice with no significant wear, if at all. Thin outer sleeve is good with some ringwear, wrinkled or bent corners, wrinkles and wear to edges. 2 inch tear / missing piece at opening on the back. Discoloration due to age visible on back of sleeve. Closed end on the verge of splitting. Picture of band on front is textured with a screenprinted look. Catalog number on label is HDF 1007. HDF 1007s on back of sleeve. Also, Guardian-3134W on bottom back of sleeve. J8 OP4635-1 AI stamped in wax of side 1. J8 OP4636-1A AI stamped in wax of Side 2. Record comes with new inner sleeve. The original deteriorating onion skin inner sleeve is included because I'd rather not throw out part of the original packaging. Album is inside of a protective plastic outer sleeve.
