Description

Can - Monster Movie (ltd. release on Spoon)
Can's debut album. With this sprawling and genre-defining album, Can were well ahead of the curve. Originally recorded and released in 1969, Monster Movie bears many of the trademarks that Can would explore, setting the scene for the burgeoning Krautrock movement. This would become the only album featuring Can's first front man Malcolm Mooney, who would be replaced by Damo Suzuki by the time of the 1970 release Soundtracks. Given the level of commitment to experimentation, Can would go on to show, it's not hard to imagine them playing one song for six hours, just to find its core. Monster Movie became a much more accessible album than initial original recordings would predict. After their first attempts at making the album, recordings were deemed too out there to be commercially released.
Vinyl is in remarkable condition. No scratches or scuffs. Labels are clean and without spindle marks. Hardly any surface noise at all. Cover has slight ringwear at the top and a tiny sticker residue near the printed "Spoon Records". Otherwise immaculate. Reverse side is in NM condition. No flaws at all.
Please refer to the images for further details.
Released on Spoon Records, a label entirely dedicated to the music of Can by the band's manager Hildegard Schmidt.
