Michael Rabin
Paganini Concerto No. 1 in D Major/Wieniawski Concerto No. 2 in D Minor
Philarmonia Orchestra conducted by Sir Eugene Gossens
Michael Rabin has long been considered among the most talented classical Violinists of the 20th century. Unfortunately he would only live to the young age of 35. He actually debuted at age 15, at Carnegie Hall with the New York Philharmonic, playing the very same concerto that's on this LP, i.e., Paganini Concerto No.1 in D Major. His rendition might just be the greatest ever played. His talent was enormous, even after his untimely death his fame and recognition lived on. The world is quite fortunate that Capitol recorded this veritable genius.
This copy is the original Full Dimensional Stereo, U.S. edition, first pressing, D-31/D-41 stampers. Many would grade this record as NM but due to several non-sounding blemishes, I am going to give it a conservative grading of NM/NM-. The same applies to the cover which is in NM physical condition but does have a label on the front (see photo).
In any case, here's your chance to own one of the greatest Violinists to have ever lived on a VERY RARE LP, GETTING HARDER AND HARDER TO COME BY AS TIME WEARS ON.
