Captain Beefheart TROUT MASK REPLICA Orig. German Straight Label 2 LP Near Mint.
Original German Straight / Electrola Gesellschaft pressing of Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band's "Trout Mask Replica", rehearsed for a year in a communal hour then recorded very swiftly by Frank Zappa. There is very slight wear to the top and bottom tips of the open spine of the cover, the LPs are pristine and housed in the original German plain innersleeves.
Germany (and Japan) had laws governing the quality of LP pressings (they take their art seriously) and this is the best period pressing of the LP to my knowledge. It weighs a full pound. A common practice at the time was for American companies to send unmixed tapes to European countries to create their own mixes (for instance the UK LP of "Strictly Personal" did not have the 'phasing' and distortion of the US issue, and was vastly superior - the basis of the CD issue. But I do no know if that is true for this issue. But it is superior sound.
