Seize the opportunity to own an extraordinary piece of music history with this rare misprinted edition of Caravan’s legendary LP, “If I Could Do It All Over Again,” released by Decca in the UK in 1970. This collectible gem is a first pressing from the 1970s, distinguished by a unique misprint on the back cover and spine, humorously stating “If I Had To Do It All Over Again, I’d Do It All Over You” instead of the original title.

This LP is exceptionally rare and nearly impossible to find! It stands as one of Caravan’s most elusive LPs, rarely making an appearance on the market. Attempt to locate another one, and you’ll see just how rare it truly is! It ranks among the rarest LPs on the Decca label and is incredibly difficult to track down today. What truly sets this LP apart is its status as the ‘earliest’ 1st pressing ever produced, featuring an entirely different cover and labels, which are virtually impossible to find on this LP. Upon its initial release in 1970, Decca launched it with the catalogue number ‘SKL 5052’. However, due to its initial lack of sales, Decca reduced the price and added an ‘R’ to the catalogue number, changing it from ‘SKL 5052’ to ‘SKL-R 5052’ (the ‘R’ signifying ‘reduced’). A close examination of the labels and cover reveals ‘SKL 5052’ printed without the ‘R’, confirming beyond doubt that this is the ‘earliest’ 1st pressing ever made.

Adding to its rarity, this LP features a detail found only on the ‘earliest’ first 1000 copies: the back cover title is completely misprinted as ‘If I Had to Do It All Over Again’ instead of the correct ‘I Could Do It All Over Again’ (see pictures). Only a few hundred copies were produced with this ‘incorrect title’ before it was promptly corrected. Thus, there is no question that this is the ‘earliest’ and rarest 1st pressing available.

This edition is presented in a front-laminated single sleeve, with the first catalogue number on the sleeve and the second on the labels. The sleeve was printed in England by Robert Stace and laminated with ‘Clarifoil’ by British Celanese Limited. The record itself is high-fidelity, stereo, and 33 RPM, offering a rich blend of experimental rock, progressive rock, classic rock, and symphonic rock genres. It has been accurately graded and played through without skips. While there is some surface noise due to age, a sonic clean may improve it. I conducted a thorough play test, even though it’s not my preferred genre!

With the SKL 5052 catalogue number and dark blue boxed Decca labels marked ‘© 1970,’ this misprinted variant is an essential acquisition for any serious collector. Secure this rare treasure before it vanishes!

Grading

All records are play-tested and graded carefully with a meticulous, high-standard approach.

I aim to avoid gaps in grading and will always assign the most accurate condition:

* MINT (M) – Only used for sealed records or those I personally purchased new and have never played.
* NEAR MINT (NM) – Near flawless, with only the faintest, barely visible marks if any.
* EXCELLENT (EX) – Very clean with a strong shine; may show light scuffs or minor signs of use.
* VERY GOOD (VG) – Still a respectable copy with noticeable light marks, scuffs, or occasional light scratches, but plays well.
* GOOD (G) – More obvious wear and marks, but still playable without major issues.
* FAIR (F) – Heavily worn/overplayed; suitable mainly for display or collection filler rather than regular listening.

Most items listed will fall between NM and VG. Lower grades are rarely listed unless part of inherited collections.
