Description
Caridad Cuervo was a child prodigy as a dancer and singer in the Tropicana night club and was to be a protégé of Celia Cruz with whom she worked with. Cari's brother Armando was a member of Irakere for several years.

"...Y La Vaca Vieja", Maype Records LP # MUS-105 is her 2nd LP release, both from 1960, this is Caridad's debut with a planned songbook as opposed to her Panart release prior to this which was a collection of her singles over the years with various groups. Here, Cuervo is backed by the fabulous Estrellas de Chocolate, an off spring of Arsenio Rodriquez's Cuban conjunto. This LP was part of the original Miami pressings that Maype had left in their warehouse when Antillas Records bought them out out so they stuck a Bravo label pm the front and back covers which can be heated to remove or via a sticker removing liquid. Under the back Bravo label is written #118 which is Antillas catalog number that doesn't match the record inside.See photosI bought this record back sometime in the early 80s, off the shelf, still sealed played it once to record to cassette, then stored it for over 25 years until i played it a second time to dump to CD, which I now have on my drive. This is the superior quality original Maype Records edition which had relocated to Miami from Cuba in 1960. Pressed by Havana Music vinyl pressing with deep groove label. The back cover also has Caridad's bio missing in subsequent bargain pressings.
Vinyl: excellent, most minimal spindle wear jacket has some minimal wear on top and side edges, bottom edge shows some wear. Front cover has very minimal rub wear. Back cover is in excellent condition, however you can see where Antillas Records who bought out Maype rubber stamped

As a life long record collector, I protect and pack records very well before shipping using a traditional cardboard LP mailer
